#114 A PIECE OF CHEESE
#114 A PIECE OF CHEESE
[Americana (bluegrass-inflected)]
(DEMO)
(Full Arrangement)
Late at night, the river flows slowly,
Kenny's still paddling, hard at work.
Hattie Heron's nest now broken open,
Kenny's helping -- daubing sticks and dirt.
Kenny Keith the flat-tail beaver,
High achiever, people pleaser.
Felling trees and building dams,
Unsticking stucks, unjamming jams.
Ready to lend tooth and tail,
Helping others without fail.
But all who love him would much prefer,
Kenny rest beside his river, don't stir,
And maybe eat a piece of cheese.
Early morning, river mist rising,
Kenny's back at it once again.
Bonnie Bunny's burrow's busted,
So Kenny builds a new one for his friend.
Kenny Keith the flat-tail beaver,
High achiever, people pleaser.
Felling trees and building dams,
Unsticking stucks, unjamming jams.
Ready to lend tooth and tail,
Helping others without fail.
But we who love him, hope he'll make a pledge,
To have a good long rest at river's edge.
And just enjoy a piece of cheese.
Then Björk the stork had seen too much, too long a while,
Booked Kenny in with Dr. Lyle the crocodile.
After some tests, Dr. Lyle said "Son, it's nice to meet you."
"But if you don't slow down, I'll have to eat you!"
Kenny Keith the flat-tail beaver,
High achiever, people pleaser.
Felling trees and building dams,
Unsticking stucks, unjamming jams.
Still ready to lend tooth and tail,
Helps himself, and others -- without fail.
We all cheered when he took the pledge,
Now watches his river flow, rests at the edge,
And nibbles on a large tasty wedge...
Of cheese.
