#120 STRIP CLUB HEIRESS
#120 STRIP CLUB HEIRESS
(Americana)
(DEMO)
(Full Arrangement)
Red-sky June morning, first light, humid,
Brandon looks down, checks his phone.
Two duffels curbside, quiet house behind,
Phone rings, he answers, says "Let's get going!"
Gold Lexus roars up, screeches to a stop,
Tall blonde hops out -- sundress, perfect smile.
Kisses Brandon -- but at the house front window,
Brandon's parents, stand watch the whole while.
"Must be one of his pranks" Alma whispers,
"Colton, our boy's just trying to scare us."
Hisses there's no way her baby Brandon,
Would run off with that strip club heiress.
Lexus speeds off as Alma thunders
Down the stairs -- sees the note on the door.
Rips it open, reads as Colton catches up,
Starts crying -- "Not our baby anymore!"
Alma keeps reading -- He says we don't know her,
And he's off to see the whole wide world.
She throws down the note -- still crying, hugs Colton,
Says Brandon's soul is being poisoned by that girl.
"End times!" Alma mutters in the kitchen,
"I know we need prayer to prepare us."
Says her son is dancing with the devil,
Trouble from day one -- that strip club heiress.
Lexus parked, facing back towards the town,
Palm Hill overlook, Brandon and Josie looking down.
He says "From up here, stupid place looks so small."
Sets his jaw -- "Ready to leave since I learned to crawl."
Turns to her -- "No to it all? Your dad's being fair?"
Josie says "I keep the car, so now we're square."
She hugs him tight, heavy look on her face.
Says "I can still take you back to your place."
He smiles, looks right in her eyes, shakes his head no,
Says "Wanna be with you, walk the world. Now let's go."
She smiles. "I get what I want, I say what I mean."
Then laughs, "Maybe comes with being named Josephine."
Breakfast silence, sunlight streams, Alma says
"Let's pray he's just acting out and we'll repair this."
Sips of coffee -- both try to NOT think about,
Their boy running off with that strip club heiress.
Colton pushes his chair back, turns and says
"He's old enough to learn -- give him a chance."
Alma stops and glares, then just says "Hmph..."
Hands trembling as she waters her houseplants.
